I wrote the following to my colleagues at work, the week after I went to see a rugby
international. I kept it because it fairly describes my condition at the time:
Over the last couple of months it became apparent that the new house's dryness has
been giving me problems and that my lungs have not been clearing properly. We finally
hit on a herbal formula to clear them 3-4 weeks ago and since then most of my energy
has been going into clearing them. This meant my reserve energies have been somewhat
low.
Last Tuesday night I sweated out most of a fever, which was gone by Friday (foolishly
I worked on Wednesday, but that is another story).
By Wednesday, my sore throat and sinusitis which had been brewing started hitting
me hard. On Thursday night I realised the sore throat was Thrush and I started taking
some lozenges I had for it, but for two days I could not bring myself to eat anything
but soft food.
The final kick came on Friday, when one of my eyes went completely bloodshot - possibly
conjunctivitis.
The result of these, and the various treatments I was taking for them, left me not
feeling up to much.
So now it's Monday. My throat is mostly better, my sinus is tolerable, and my eye
is somewhat better (I am seeing someone about it later). There is no sign of the
bug which caused the fever. A week of not concentrating on my lungs (and no real
exercise) has set me back a bit, but I can live with that.
How soon I come back probably now rests on my last remaining treatable condition
- my eye: if it is mostly fixed, of if new treatment for it is innocuous, I would
hope to be back in a day or two. If my eye starts irritating again, I won't be able
to build up my reserves AND sort out my lungs.
Anyway, that's my view at this point in time
Indeed I was back at work the following week and everything cleared up.
